What You Should Know Before Getting Started

We want every experience with Nuvera Mind to feel clear and straightforward. This page gives you a plain-language overview of how we operate. When you schedule an appointment, you will receive a formal consent and intake packet through our client portal — this page is simply here to help you know what to expect before that step.

Your Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. All information you share with Nuvera Mind is kept strictly confidential and handled in accordance with HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). We do not share your personal or health information with anyone outside of Nuvera Mind without your written permission, except in the limited situations required or permitted by law.

Those limited situations include:

  • When there is a serious and credible risk of harm to you or someone else
  • When there is a reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or dependent adult
  • When required by a court order or other legal process

Your full privacy rights and how we protect your information are explained in detail in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you will receive as part of your intake paperwork.

Confidentiality in Therapy and Evaluation

What you share in a therapy session is confidential. For psychological evaluations, it is important to understand that the purpose of the evaluation determines who receives the report. For example, presurgical evaluations and forensic evaluations are typically requested by a third party (such as a surgical team, attorney, or employer), and reports are shared with the requesting party. We will always be clear with you upfront about who will receive the results of your evaluation.

Telehealth Services

Many of our services are available via telehealth (video appointment). Telehealth sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. To participate in a telehealth appointment, you will need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

Please note that telehealth services are subject to the licensing laws of the state where you are located at the time of your appointment. If you have questions about whether telehealth is available for your location or service type, please contact us before scheduling.

Appointments and Cancellations

We ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee, which will be outlined in your intake paperwork. We understand that life happens — if you need to make a change, please reach out to us as soon as possible.

Fees and Payment

Our fees vary by service type. Copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and private-pay fees are due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been approved in advance. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay), debit cards with major brand logos, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payment plans may be available through CareCredit for select services — please contact us to discuss your options.

Insurance

Nuvera Mind is currently credentialed with Aetna, Ambetter, and CHAMPVA insurance plans. We are currently in the process of credentialing with Evernorth, Optum, Priority Health, HAP, BCBS, Oscar Health, Medicaid MI, McLaren Medicaid, Molina Health, Meridian Health, Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Humana.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to understand your mental health and/or psychological testing benefits. We are happy to provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
