Not sure whether the available clinical evidence supports your request for service connection or an increased disability rating? This two-step option allows you to complete a comprehensive evaluation and records review before deciding whether to purchase a written Independent Medical Opinion.

Step 1: Comprehensive Evaluation and Records Review — $800

The first step includes:

• Completion and review of relevant mental health screening measures
• A comprehensive clinical interview and evaluation of current functioning
• Detailed assessment of symptoms, severity, and functional impairment
• Review of symptom development and progression over time
• Review of available military, medical, behavioral health, and other relevant records
• Consideration of applicable diagnostic criteria and current clinical research
• Determination of whether the available clinical evidence supports a professionally defensible medical opinion

After the evaluation and records review are completed, we will discuss the findings with you. If the evidence does not support the requested opinion, we will explain that conclusion, and you will not be required to purchase the written IMO.

Step 2: Optional Written Independent Medical Opinion — $800

When the findings support a professionally defensible opinion, you may choose to purchase a written Independent Medical Opinion.

The written opinion may include:

• Identification and discussion of the appropriate mental health diagnosis
• Review of relevant military and medical evidence
• Analysis of the relationship between the diagnosed condition and military service, a service-connected condition, or documented aggravation
• A clearly stated medical nexus opinion, when supported by the evidence
• Discussion of occupational and social impairment in relation to applicable VA mental health criteria
• Citations to relevant peer-reviewed research and clinical literature
• Supporting clinical rationale and documentation

Completed documents are generally delivered within 10 business days after you authorize Step 2 and all required records have been received.
